Medical Services:
Western Sierra Medical Clinic offers comprehensive primary care services for all members of the family, from infants to the elderly. Our goal is to make our services accessible to all. We achieve this by offering extended office hours and reaching remote and under served locations with our Mobile Medical/Dental Clinic.
For those with limited or no insurance, we offer a sliding scale discount. We accept Medi-Cal, CMSP, and Medicare in addition to most commercial insurances. We measure our success by receiving feedback from our patients to ensure that we are meeting your needs. Please take our patient satisfaction survey so we can develop our services to meet your changing needs.
Pediatric Medical Care
We have a group of dedicated pediatricians to provide services such as: sick infant or child exams, immunizations, child health and wellness exams, and sports physicals.
Adult Medical Care
Our team of providers is made up of physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants. They provide quality care for simple to complex medical problems and treat acute and chronic illness. Services offered include preventative health maintenance exams, senior health services, and DMV and employment physicals.
Teen Clinic
We offer confidential reproductive health education, family planning, and STD testing and treatment services. For your convenience, these services are available on a walk-in basis during normal hours of operation for teens up to 21 years of age. Appointments can also be made in advance. We accept and can enroll patients in the Family Pact program. This program provides no-cost family planning services to low-income men and women, including teens in California. For more information and appointments please call (530) 273-9344. These services are also offered at Western Sierra Medical Clinic in Downieville. For appointments and information at the Downieville location, please call (530) 289-3298.
Immediate Care
At our Downieville location, immediate medical care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days aweek. A medical provider is available and will respond to the Clinic in Downieville within 15 minutes, as needed or as scheduled. The Clinic phones rings in the home of the Provider on call; if it goes to Answer Phone it will direct you to call 911, the Downieville Fire Department Dispatch at (530) 289-3333, or the Sierra County Sheriff’s Office Dispatcher at (530)289-3700. The Dispatcher will then page the medical provider on call to return your call or meet you at the Clinic. Medical providers also work with the Downieville Ambulance to provide Medical Oversight and Advanced Medical Life Support Services.

House Calls
House calls are available in the event individuals are unable to transport themselves, have no available transportation or are so ill as to make travel difficult, impossible or a significant medical risk. House calls can be scheduled and coordinated via nursing staff and your medical provider.
Home Health
Home Health Care is not available at this time. Medical providers try to fill this gap as much as possible with House calls. Private individuals are available for direct patient care and in-home support services on a fee for service basis. Sierra County Social Services also has a program that pays for in-home support services for those individuals who meet the income guidelines.
